HOW TO GET A GREAT CUT WITHOUT LOSING YOUR LENGTH

HOW TO GET A GREAT CUT WITHOUT LOSING YOUR LENGTH

It really doesn't matter whether you have straight, curly, bob, middy or long hair; the fact is that most of us reach a point where we want to breathe new life into our look – without losing our inches. It's a tweak rather than a chop. Think expertly cut small details that nail the art of understatement – but add up to an overall lift that attracts compliments and boosts your confidence at the same time.

"We're in the age of the haircut. It's about using the cut to achieve a great shape that enhances your facial features and does the hard work for you, so you don't spend hours styling it." – Luke Hersheson.

So, what do we mean by a 'Great Cut'?

We think that your haircut is the foundation for how your hair looks on a day-to-day basis. It sets the tone for the shape, texture, and how long it takes to style. Our stylists' signature vibe is to create cuts that are effortless, current, and feel like they're part of you – never forced or overly 'done'.

Who are our Great Hair references?

Think Giselle, Kate Moss, Brigitte Bardot, Stevie Nicks, Sienna Miller, Zoe Kravitz, Goldie Hawn, Margot Robbie, Freya Beya Erichsen and Caroline de Maigret. And let's not forget the supers – Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington. The thing they all have in common is that the cut works in sync with their face, amplifies their natural hair texture – and looks like it belongs to them naturally. Your cut should also be easy to style in a carefree way that doesn't look like you've just stepped out of a salon.

What to ask for?

Getting a Great Cut without losing your length is all about the small details. The idea is to remove long, heavy, shapeless curtains of hair and add a soft curtain bang, a few pieces cut to your chin to frame your features – or some subtle layers at the crown and down the sides (what we call a Modern Shag). All of these details can be tailored to your face, hair type and vibe to bring out the best in you. And, if you're still unsure what to ask for, you can always pop into one of our flagships and get a free consultation.

Quick and easy styling tips

The beauty of a Great Cut is that it does the work for you. We like to follow our classic Zhoosh Sandwich technique. This involves applying a half pump of Almost Everything Cream on wet hair to slay frizz. Then layer some Zhoosh Foam over the top to add oomph and body. Once your hair is dry, add a smidgen more Almost Everything Cream to hydrate dry ends, smooth flyaways and create a nice, piecey texture. Our Great Hair Clips are also the simplest way to air dry in face-framing shape. Bonus points for trying this Dry Bun Method as a five-minute hack for beachy waves.
