How To Air Dry Your Hair In Winter

Cold weather doesn’t mean you have to reach for the hairdryer. With the right routine, air drying in winter can still leave your hair soft, polished and healthy-looking – without catching that cold your grandma said you would. It all comes down to a few smart tweaks.

1. Boost hair hydration

Winter air is dry – and so is your hair. Before you even think about styling, focus on hydration.

After washing, gently squeeze out excess water (no rough towel-drying) and apply Almost Everything Cream through mid-lengths and ends. This seals in moisture, smooths the cuticle and prevents that fluffy, static-prone finish.

2. Set the shape while it’s damp

Air drying works best when you guide your hair early. First, mist some Air Dry Spray into your hair, then comb or brush it into the shape you want to create while it’s still damp.

Twist sections, tuck behind ears, or scrunch for texture depending on your style.

Once hair starts drying in winter, it sets quickly. If you miss this window, you’ll be fighting it all day.

3. Protect it from the cold

Cold air + wet hair = frizz, flatness and breakage.

If you’re heading outside while your hair is still drying, wrap it loosely in a scarf (preferably silk), wear a smooth-lined hat, or tuck it into a coat collar. This prevents wind damage and keeps your style intact while it finishes drying naturally.
