3 Of Autumn’s Coolest Colour Trends

The days are getting shorter and darker and there’s a distinct chill in the air: autumn is on its way. As the seasons change, we’re a big fan of shaking up our look here at Hershesons, but with so many options it can be difficult to know where to start. If you’re in the market for a colour switch-up, here are some of our favourite, stylist-approved trends for the months ahead.

Maple Butter Blonde

“This delicious warm (but not too warm) colour features ribbons of flaxen gold, which lends it a glossy finish,” says Marley at Hershesons Belgravia. The definition of golden hour hair, this shade has most recently been adopted by Rihanna, and Kendall Jenner has also recently gone a shade of buttery blonde too. “I think we’ll be seeing even more honey blondes this year,” adds Marley, whose top tip is to ask your colourist for a root smudge for a lived-in look that doesn’t break the bank. Glosses are also a great economical way to keep your hair salon-fresh and shiny, without having to pay for new colour every couple of months.

Rich Girl Brunette

It’s always a good idea to experiment with darker hues in the cooler months, and John at Hershesons Fitzrovia says he’s seen a marked uptick in clients asking for them. One of his favourites is a “rich girl” brunette – think “luxe, high-shine undertones and lots of dimension”, he says. “It will instantly make your skin look bright and luminous, and your eyes pop.” Great celebrity examples include Lily Collins and Priyanka Chopra.

Amber Blonde

Those who are already blonde might like to try a warmer look for autumn and winter, says Hannah at Hershesons Belgravia. “Amber blonde is going to be huge!” she says. “I’m all about blending warm, rich tones but still staying light. This look is great for those who want to make a small change and add vibrancy, but don’t want to go dark.” To keep your colour looking fresh, she recommends a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, and regular toning treatments at the salon.
