JOHN
TRY CHOCOLATE COPPER

“When we think about summer hair colour, often our first thought is to go beachy blonde. This summer, however, red and coppery tones are everywhere. My favourite is a chocolate copper shade that’s super–flattering and lends your hair richness and interest. Think Lana de Rey, Zendaya and Sophie Turner.

“The other advantage is that coppery colours don’t require bleach, so are less high–maintenance and healthier for your hair.”

MARLEY
PICK SUNLIT SHADES

“Great summer hair colour is all about enhancing what you have in a really effortless way. This year, I’m loving what I call ‘sunlit shades’. This includes buttercream, gold, toffee and cinnamon tones that add luminosity and bring your whole look to life.

“If you like to wear your hair up, don’t forget a small but significant detail: I like to lighten the lower hairline – Barbie–style – to really make a high ponytail pop”.

JAMES
MAKE BRUNETTE MULTIDIMENSIONAL

“From Olivia Palermo to Emily Ratajkowski, Issa Rae, Bella Hadid and Lily Collins, brunette is trending right now. Many people fear being brunette, because it can look flat and solid. My top tip is to make it multi–tonal, hand–painting lighter pieces around the face and here and there, throughout the hair. This makes the colour look super soft and natural, so it really lights up your skin.

“For an added bonus, I like to add a gloss to amp up the shine and take that brunette multi–dimensional.”
