Baby Balayage is our favourite new summer hair colour trend

You may already have heard of balayage, the popular hair colour technique that involves painting lighter colour, freehand, into the mid-lengths and ends of the hair to create a sun-kissed look. One of the most requested looks in the salon – especially as we approach the summer months – recently our colourists have been experimenting with a new take on the look. Say hello to baby balayage…

Think of baby balayage as normal balayage’s younger sister. It involves painting really fine strands of hair rather than larger ones, creating the illusion of dimension and that same sun-kissed effect, but in a much subtler way. With a move towards more natural-looking hair colour generally (see: Hailey Bieber, who grew out her blonde highlights to welcome her natural chestnut), baby balayage adds a little intrigue into mid-lengths and ends, without looking too done.

Super flattering and particularly good for those with darker hair colours, here are some of our favourite examples of the trend to inspire your next colour appointment.
