A - Z OF GREAT HAIR - PART TWO

Stay ahead of the curve! Here's part two to 2017's ultimate hair guide.

I IS FORI is for: IDDY BIDDY BRAIDS

Boho chic's not going to be confined to just festivals this year! Come Spring, everybody will be adding tiny accent plaits to their locks.

It works on any hairstyle, and is a handy way to spice up second day hair!

Try this look when your waves or curl locks begin their slow descent to flatness. Simply pick the small sections where the hair has dropped, and braid before securing with an invisible band.

J IS FORJ is for: JUST WASH & GO

Lazy girls cheer! This year we're putting over-styled looks on pause because real, actual natural hair will continue to reign.

In a beauty-obsessed (and often cosmetically-enhanced) world, it's no wonder this au naturale trend is proving hard to shift. The concept is one that is easy to love: a celebration of individuality, and the idea that everyone is beautiful. Why would we ever want to get rid of that?!

K IS FORK is for: KINKS

The effortlessness of 'barely-there waves' is what makes these new types of waves so desirable. Beach-waves are taking a break to make room for a cooler wave: a kinky, bent one.

Instead of a winding hair around a barrelled tong, hair-gurus have been using flat irons to bend sections of the hair. The result? A done-yet-undone look that

L IS FORL is for: LONG AND SHINY

A backlash from the 'return of the cut' craze is the 'mermaid hair' look. It's super glossy, straight and long, a direct contrast to the current shaggy, textured crops we've been seeing everywhere.

Long and shiny hair will always have a 'red-carpet' glam vibe that shorter cuts just can't achieve. Stars such as Kim K and Rihanna have already been spotted channelling their inner Cher, and we reckon we'll see a lot of this look as the year progresses.

M IS FORM is for: MUST TRY

..this topknot.

A surprising winner, this cute topknot is one you have got to give a go!

N IS FORN is for: NOSTALGIA VIBES

90s played a major role in nostalgia trends in 2016, but this year we're throwing it back even further.

2017 has been hit by 80s mania! We're talking crimped hair, half-bun updos, and very curly curls.

O IS FOR

O is for: OBSESSED WITH BALAYAGE.. AGAIN

We're going back to basics with colour! Forget 'contourage' and 'sombre' or whatever the new catchy term is; sometimes a good session of balayage is all your hair needs to look refreshed.

'Balayage' is the french word for 'sweep', which sums up the technique. The colourist uses free-hand to sweep light and shade through the hair to create a beautiful dimension. It's the perfect sun-kissed hair!

P IS FOR

P is for: PRE-CONDITIONER

Finding a way to hydrate your hair without too much hassle or breaking the bank is like finding the holy grail to haircare. But sometimes the best answers are the simplest, and it looks like this answer has been hiding in plain sight all along.

The new and improved way to wash your hair is to simply swap your routine around so you're applying conditioner before shampooing. This method will allow the hair to hydrate, without being weighed down too much afterwards.

Q IS FOR

Q is for: QUICK, LOW-SLUNG PLAITS

This has got to be THE 'Sunday-chic' look of the moment!

Models from the Etro SS17 show had their hair pulled into loose, low braids with long layers framing the face. From the texture, the braid, and the effortless vibe, this style ticks all boxes in current hair trends.
