A - Z OF GREAT HAIR - PART THREE
The finale to our ultimate hair guide.
R is for: RIBBONS
A simple touch can go a long way.
Experiment with ribbons for a touch of feminine detail without looking too over-done. Having a bad hair day? Pull your hair into a mid to low ponytail or loose bun and secure with an invisible band. Next, wrap a ribbon around the band and tie into a simple bow. We recommend choosing ribbons with velvet textures for that effortless yet polished finish.
S is for: SURFER CHIC
Radical choppy cuts in ice-blonde hues were were met with a resounding 'YES' during Alexander Wang's SS17 show.
Less 'beach-babe' than 'beach-bum', this latest look takes summer hair waves to a much cooler level. Inspired by the sea-salt drenched hair from surfer boys, these waves are the least 'done' ones yet.
To really achieve the look in full Wang fashion, get your eyebrows professionally bleached!
T is for: TEXTURED & TOUSLED
The two golden rules for 'It-girl' hair: textured and tousled.
Effortlessly undone hair is a favourite look amongst modern day 'rock-chicks' and is a trend that will be staying for a long time yet.
U is for: UNICORN BRAIDS
This festival appropriate trend is great for adding a little fun to your style!
The unicorn braid first broke the internet when Kate Bosworth wore a small yet charming braid down her middle parting to Coachella. This trend has since been experimented with by basically every hair stylists, and has been spotted on A-Lists such as Gigi and Cara Delevingne.
V is for: VOLUMINOUS
Big is beautiful!
Amp up the volume to incite some serious hair envy. But don't think this trend is limited to backcombing the life out of your roots.. We especially love the full bottom lengths of Mila's Kunis' smooth waves!
W is for: WET LOOK
Full-on glam with a slicked back style or a more subtle yet alluring tousled, drenched look? However you do the wet look trend, this is one beauty statement guaranteed to make a splash this summer.
X is for: XTREME SIDE PART
Finally! A chic 'off-the-runway' style that's actually doable by someone other than professional hairdressers. It's also a runway look that's wearable in everyday life, something you don't usually hear when talking about couture fashion & beauty.
Tip: Slay two of the hottest trends in one go, wet look and extreme side partings, for an even more polished look.
Y is for: YES TO CURLS
Cookie-cutter styling is a massive no-no these days. The mood for celebrating individuality and creativity has given way to styles that were previously less desirable.
Like tighter, wilder curls, for example. It's naturally messy look has a fresh, effortless vibe, making it one of the coolest hair textures to have right now. Whilst a blessed few are simply taking a break from straightening irons, others are emulating the texture by 'faux-perming' their locks with small barrelled tongs.
Z is for: ZHUZHED BUNS & PONYTAILS
Low key doesn't have to mean boring..
Ponytails and buns are getting zhuzhed up this year! Whether done with accessories, knots or braids, the trick to perfecting this trend is to not go overboard. Simple detailing look much more elaborate without losing it's chic quality. Keep the tie low-slung to soften the look.
