You’re Probably Washing Your Hair All Wrong
The majority of hair issues don’t start with styling – they start in the shower. Even if you’re using the best haircare products in the world, the way you use them can make all the difference. That’s why we’re sharing some of the most common mistakes we see, and how to fix them. Just remember: everyone’s hair is different, so what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. Ultimately, it’s about washing smarter. Small changes in the shower can completely transform how your hair looks, feels and behaves.
Mistake #1: Washing the lengths, not the scalp
Shampoo is more important for your scalp than your ends. Over-cleansing lengths strips moisture and can cause dryness.
Do this instead:
Apply shampoo to the scalp only. Massage gently to lift oil and build-up, then let the suds rinse through the lengths naturally.
Mistake #2: Rushing the rinse
Leftover product weighs hair down and dulls shine.
Do this instead:
Rinse longer than you think you need to – especially at the nape and hairline. Clean hair starts with a clean rinse.
Mistake #3: Conditioning the roots
Conditioner applied to the scalp can flatten hair and trigger oiliness in straighter hair types.
Do this instead:
Apply conditioner mid-lengths to ends only. Detangle with fingers or a wide-tooth comb, then rinse thoroughly.
Mistake #4: Using heat immediately after
Hair is weakest when wet.
Do this instead:
Gently squeeze out water (no rough towel-drying), apply a leave-in or protector, then style with intention.
