THESE 4 NINETIES HAIR LOOKS ARE TRENDING RIGHT NOW

The 90s are having a moment right now. Think cargo pants to spaghetti straps, bucket hats and chokers – the decade that brought us Brit pop, Clueless and Friends is inspiring this summer’s hottest style trends, including hair looks that are perfect for weekends, parties, festivals and laid-back beachy days.

Here’s 4 easy looks to update your hair look – the 90s way.

THE FACE-FRAMING FRINGE

Think of this look like a picture frame: it comes inspired by the likes of Posh Spice and All Saints, and involves leaving two sections of hair free when you tie your hair up (or half up). Make like Dua Lipa and keep the sections fairly chunky (too spindly and it feels half-hearted) and they’ll soften the severity of an up-do and frame your face nicely. You’ll need Almost Everything Cream to keep your 90s fringe on point, rather than frizzy, with more ‘how to’ tips right here.

THE SLICKED-BACK BUN

Remember those slicked-back buns with a little tail that everyone wore back in the 90s? We love this ingenious method for recreating the look using Zhoosh Foam. Back then, it was known as the ‘model off-duty’ spiky bun. These days we’re taking our cue from Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, who wear it super sleek for a more polished, elevated feel.

THE SKINNY BRAIDS

Alanis Morisette was the poster girl for two skinny – or baby – braids hanging at the side of the face. Now Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid are bringing them back. Wear them with your hair down, in 90s bunches or up in a bun – we love the easy, boho vibe they give your look that feels great for weddings and festivals. Keep your baby braids tight and fuzz-free by prepping your hair with a little Almost Everything Cream before you start plaiting.

THE 90s SLIDES

Scrunchies, claw clips and wavy-toothed headbands: the 90s loved a hair accessory. For something a little softer, try adding a clip either side of your centre parting – or parting your hair to one side and securing it over one ear. It’s cute and feminine, with a little preppiness thrown in. We like to brush the hair through with this Everyday Essentials Brush first, to detangle and add shine – then hydrate dry ends with some Almost Everything Cream. You can always create some height and root lift at the crown by rubbing Zhoosh Foam in until it disappears.
