8 INSIDER TIPS TO CARE FOR YOUR EXTENSIONS AT HOME

Hair Extensions
Everyone from celebrities and models to top beauty editors has given our Hair Extensions the stamp of approval. The simple reason being, that they're everyone's little secret weapon to achieving really Great Hair. But once your salon appointment or Tapes Extensions slot in one of our Hershesons Blow Dry Bars, is done and dusted - how to get the best from your new lengths, in a totally natural way? Resident expert and Great Lengths Educator, @JordanMooneyHair reveals the simple tricks you need to care for and style your extensions at home. So they always remain your little secret.

Always use a heat protector

In order to keep your extensions looking healthy and natural, caring for them correctly is key. Use Kérastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique heat protector before blow drying extensions and L'Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Constructor pre styling tools, to keep yours damage-free and silky smooth.

2. Add oomph and volume

Rough dry your hair, then use these incredible tongs through your lengths, working in alternate directions (forwards and backwards) with each section of hair you take. Twist your hair into a bun while you do your makeup - then untie it to unleash some gentle movement, with just the right amount of volume.

Get beachy waves

When your extensions are dry, plait them into two braids before clamping them between these straighteners. Unplait your hair, run some Almost Everything Cream through the mid-lengths and ends - and everyone will think you're just back from the beach.

4. Save time by air drying

Side note: even if you're air drying, always be sure to rough dry the roots of your extensions to keep the bonds super strong. Otherwise, mix a few pumps of Almost Everything Cream with a salt spray and scrunch it through your extensions for a little natural movement and texture.

Keep a scrunchie beside your bed

Extensions have a tendency to snag and break, ruining all that lustrous beauty. Tie your hair up with a soft, non-snag scrunchie at night (and in the gym, for that matter), to keep yours smooth and breakage-free for morning.

6. Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Not only will this help keep your extensions free from snags and knots, but it'll also supercharge your blow dry with the stamina to last an extra few days.

Always carry the right brush

You've got the gist by now: one of the primary threats to getting Great Extensions is snags, breakages and broken bonds. So, keep this Mixed Bristle Oval Brush by your side at all times. It's soft enough to use at the root - and will ensure your extensions stay tangle free when you use it throughout the day.

8. Go (half) up on no-poo days

Getting Great Extensions doesn't necessarily come with a lot of hard work. For those days when you've skipped a wash and things are getting greasy, a super high pony tail or half-up, half-down style will conceal those dirty roots - and show off your glossy lengths. Accessorise with bows, scrunchies and slides to take your extensions to A+. Can't wait, won't wait to get your extensions? Better book your appointment on the double.
