5 Fine Hair Tips You Won’t Find Anywhere Else

5 Fine Hair Tips You Won’t Find Anywhere Else

If you’ve got fine hair, you may find you are prone to flat roots, limp strands and hairstyles that seem to deflate the second you walk out of the door. But with a few clever tricks, your hair can look fuller, thicker and more bouncy without hours in front of the mirror. Here are five practical hacks to infuse volume into fine hair.

Flip it while you dry it

One of the quickest ways to add volume? Our Zhoosh dry mousse paired with one of the oldest tricks in the book: blow-drying your hair upside down. While Zhoosh will give you all the volume you need, blow drying upside down helps the roots lift away from the scalp, creating instant body. Once it’s mostly dry, flip it back and finish with a cool blast of air to lock in shape.

Embrace the power of layers

A blunt cut can weigh fine hair down, but strategic layers give the illusion of movement and fullness. Ask your stylist for soft, face-framing or long layers to prevent your hair from looking too “thin” at the ends.

Switch up your parting

Sometimes the simplest hack makes the biggest impact. Flipping your parting to the opposite side immediately lifts roots that have dried flat. For extra oomph and hold, work a little Zhoosh into your roots before you move it.

Add texture and movement

An easy way to create the appearance of thicker hair is to add texture and dimension, care of beachy waves, tousle or curls. Prep the hair with our Air Dry Spray for extra grit, then use our Wand on a high heat for extra hold. Easy and effortless, just how we like it.

Gently tease

Backcombing has a bad rep, but done gently, it can be a godsend for fine hair. Use a fine-tooth comb to tease just at the crown of the head, then smooth over the top layer (with a pea-sized amount of Almost Everything Cream) for polished, natural-looking lift. A light mist of hairspray will help keep everything in place.
