The Great Iron, made easy

How to get a sleek finish, a soft bend or a beachy wave — without the effort.

How To Use Your Great Iron

Before you start

Make sure your hair is fully dry. A spritz of heat protector first is the easiest insurance there is to keep your hair protected from heat damage.

Setting the heat

Cooler than you think. As a guide, around 170°C for fine or fragile hair, 180–200°C for normal, and up to 210°C for thick or coarse. The Great Iron will go to 230°C.

Helpful Tips

A few things our stylists wish everyone knew

  • Less heat does more than you think. Lower temperature, one confident pass, softer feel, longer-lasting style.

  • If you hear a sizzle, stop. Your hair's still damp or the heat's too high — either way, your hair will thank you for pausing.

  • Slow beats fast. One smooth, steady glide does more than five rushed ones, with far less wear on your hair.

What to pair it with

A pump of Almost Everything Cream before, for slip, shine and light heat protection. Whatever you usually use to finish, after. That's the whole routine.

Looking after it

Let the plates cool, then wipe them clean. Coil the cord loosely. Store it flat.
