How To Refresh A Mid-Length Cut

How To Refresh A Mid-Length Cut

There’s a reason the mid-length cut has become a go-to for celebrities, including Pénelope Cruz, Sophie Turner, Selena Gomez, Laura Harrier and more – not only is it effortlessly cool and versatile, but surprisingly low-maintenance too.

While an incredibly wearable cut, it’s also at risk of feeling a little middle-of-the-road – and if that’s how you're currently feeling about yours, here are some of our top tips to keep things fresh.

Try an invisible layer

Forget the chunky layers from days gone by, we love to use what we call a “ghost layer” to create movement, bend and bounce in the hair, without it feeling too fussy.

Consider curtain bangs

Defined by their softly sweeping shape over the cheekbones, curtain bangs suit nearly everyone, adding structure and interest around the face, while also being long enough to tie up.

Forget blow dries…

And try enhancing your natural texture. Mid-length cuts look great when worn with their wearer’s natural waves, bends, curls or coils – especially in the summer months. Our Air Dry Spray UV adds definition without being sticky or crunchy.

Change your parting

Nothing switches up a hairstyle quite like a change in parting. If you usually wear yours to the centre, flip it to the side – and vice versa. This is also a great way to inject volume into roots.

Add some oomph

Talking of volume… if your hair is feeling flat and boring, work some of our Zhoosh Foam into roots to encourage body, then finish by adding some subtle bends through mid-lengths using our Wand – easy and effortless, just as we like it.
