How To Master Summer Beach Waves
Shop the starter kit:
Beach waves have been around for years, but they're looking slightly different this summer. Gone are the tight, perfectly uniform bends of days gone by. Instead, the finish is softer, looser and a little more lived in. The kind of hair that looks as though you've really spent the day by the sea, rather than an hour in front of the mirror.
The trick is to focus on creating movement, rather than curls. That means keeping the roots relaxed, leaving the ends a little straighter and avoiding making every section look the same. Hair should feel light, touchable and slightly imperfect.
Start with a smoothing product, like our Almost Everything Cream, to give the hair grip without making it stiff. Blow-dry until completely dry, then use the Great Iron to create loose bends and S-waves through the mid-lengths, leaving the last couple of inches untouched. Alternate the direction of each section as you work around the head to stop the waves looking too polished.
Once the hair has cooled, brush through with your fingers rather than a paddle brush to break everything up. Finish with Air Dry Spray to add soft texture and separation without losing movement.
The best beach waves never look like you've tried too hard. They're a little messy, a little glossy and get even better as the day goes on. Simple!
