5 Ways To Nail A Salon-Level Blowdry At Home

5 Ways To Nail A Salon-Level Blowdry At Home

There’s nothing quite like that fresh-from-the-salon bounce – glossy, smooth and full of movement. While stylists make it look effortless, recreating a blowout at home is far simpler than it seems. With the right prep, a couple of tools and a little technique, you can master that polished finish yourself. Here are five easy steps to get you there

1. Prime properly

Great blowouts start before the dryer comes out. Absorb moisture from the hair ideally using a microfibre towel and apply a smoothing primer, like Almost Everything Cream, through the mid-lengths and ends to tame frizz. Always follow with a heat protectant, then detangle carefully from the ends upwards to avoid breakage.

2. Rough dry first

Using your fingers like a comb, rough dry the hair until it’s about 70-80% dry. Lift at the roots for volume and keep the airflow pointing downward to smooth the cuticle. Once mostly dry, divide your hair into neat sections using clips – this is key for a professional finish.

3. Master the round brush

Work section by section with our Pro Blow-Dry round brush. Place the brush at the roots, apply gentle tension, and follow closely with the dryer nozzle angled downward. Roll slightly as you move through the ends to encourage soft movement. Larger barrels create loose bounce; smaller barrels add more curve. Alternatively, try our Multi-Tasker tool with round brush attachment, which does much of the work for you.

4. Use the right airflow

A wide nozzle works best for larger sections, while a narrow nozzle gives concentrated airflow – perfect for smoothing around the hairline and taming flyaways. Precision airflow makes all the difference.

5. Set and finish

Once each section is dry, use the cool shot to set the shape. Let the hair cool before brushing through for soft, blended volume. Finish with a pea-sized amount of Almost Everything Cream on the ends for shine – and a mist of hairspray if you want extra hold.
