3 easy ways to keep your hair colour fresh

Not only does fresh hair colour totally transform your look, but it can also quickly improve mood and confidence.

Whether it’s a sun-kissed balayage look, semi-permanent gloss or monthly appointments to address emerging roots, leaving the salon with new colour can make you feel on top of the world.

But how to keep it looking salon-fresh in between appointments?

Here are our top tips:

‌1. First thing’s first: ensure you’re using the right shampoo.

The formula with which you wash your hair multiple times a week has a big impact not only on your hair colour, but also on its health. Opt for formulas that promise to enhance colour and/or those which forgo sulphates, the cleansing agent that can escalate colour fading. It’s also worth minimising the number of hair washes you perform a week – the less you cleanse the hair, the less risk there is of colour fading.

2. Always use heat protection when using hair tools.

Not only can heat damage the hair itself, but it can also make pigments on the hair oxidise, resulting in a lacklustre or dull look over time, as well as colour fade. While we love heat styling, we also love air drying and working with the natural hair to enhance it – try our Air Dry Spray for hassle-free, defined texture.

3. Nourish and condition your hair regularly.

As well as using a fortifying and moisturising conditioner, we recommend employing a good hair mask once a week to ensure hair is looks shiny and glossy. If you’re in need of a little more colour oomph, but don’t want to go for a full colour treatment, we also recommend coming into the salon for a gloss – it will reinvigorate older colour and lend a mirror-like shine for up to 14 washes.
