ROKSANDA ILINCIC AT LONDON FASHION WEEK

Location: Seymour Place

The Look: 50's relaxed quiff

Above a raised, swirly stage swung matching patterned skirts in clashing colour combinations of burgundy, cobalt, orange and royal blue. Like autumn on acid, colour splashed the collection in generous proportions. Belted coats, nipped in waists and willowy full skirts threw reference to a 40’s feminine silhouette. Colour popped upon contrasting textures and layered furs, convincing all to embrace the brightest of hues next season. Luke referenced a modern Betty Page when putting together the 50’s style quiff. The trick was to ensure the texture at the ends of the hair looked soft and freshly washed, offering hints of movement. Luke says: “the shape of the quiff roll gives a feeling of toughness to each girl, throwing reference to 50’s pin-up. The style was neither stiff nor set and had to exude the feeling of being home-styled rather than set by a hairdresser. Even in the 50’s there was something sexier about undone hair – hair that was styled without too much consideration."
